What is a PLUS Leader?
Peer Led Undergraduate Study (PLUS) Leaders are current Georgia Tech students who have demonstrated proficiency in a course and want to help their peers be academically successful. They facilitate regularly scheduled study sessions throughout the semester for a specific professor, and challenge the students that attend to collaboratively tackle problems and provide opportunities for the students to explain their thought process to one another. Students who attend PLUS sessions regularly consistently earn better grades and have a significantly lower D,F,W rate than those who do not.
In addition to facilitating study sessions, Tech Prep PLUS Leaders are a mentor to a specified team of participants for the duration of the program. They serve as the first point of contact for their team members, and are responsible for ensuring that everyone well informed and engaged in both the academic and non-academic aspects of Tech Prep 2017.
