Freshman Advising & Academic Support
Many freshmen at Georgia Tech have one thing in common: they aced most of their high school courses with little or no help from anyone. But doing well in your classes at Tech is another story. Even though you probably don't want to ask for it, chances are you're going to need some help with coursework during your freshman year. Don't panic! You're in the same boat as about 2,400 other freshmen.
Tech offers a number of resources to assist freshmen with first-year courses. Many departments offer tutoring services. If a program is not available in the subject desired, you may go to the department office to obtain further information on tutorial assistance in the particular subject.
Every major has an academic advisor who will help you with course selection, registration, and graduation requirements. In addition, your advisor can connect you with many campus services and programs and will be a great resource to you throughout your time at tech.
In this section, you'll find video clips with students discussing academic challenges they faced their first semester and how they dealt with them, as well as teaching assistants giving great tips on how to stay on top of your first-year classes.
