ABOUT THE SELECTION OF THIS BOOK
Each year, a campus steering committee chooses a book that it believes will resonate with the transition of a new freshman coming to college. This year, the committee elected to choose a reading that would also connect with Tech's celebration of the 50th matriculation of African Americans (for more information on this celebration, please click here).
Freshmen attending FASET orientation will receive a copy of the book at orientation. Students are asked to read the book over the summer prior to the start of classes. The text will be used in some sections of Freshman English classes and Freshman Seminar (GT1000) classes. In addition, there will be other programs and events related to the book scheduled in the fall. If a student does not attend FASET, they may purchase a copy of the book at any store that sells books or at a discounted cost from the Center for Academic Success.
